An action film is commonly known as a genre involving heroes who are thrown in to challenges which often require bravery and courage to overcome the obstacles. There is commonly a villain whos role is to attempt to stop the hero from reaching thier goal. Hollywood have been making more action films than ever due to advancements of CGI effects. The genre is closely linked with thriller and adventure film genres and may sometimes include elements of spy fiction.

In the 1940's-50's the majority of action films made were based around the cowboy scene. Later on Alfred Hitchcock made action films in the form of the spy-adventure genre, with films like ‘north by northwest’ and ‘the guns of navarone’. These films later inspired the popular series of films based on Ian Fleming's James Bond novels.

Sub genres of Action Adventure may include:
Action Comedy, Action Horror, Disaster Film, Martial Arts, Sci-Fi Action, Spy Film, Super Hero.

We have chosen the Action Comedy element specifically.
